Bay Run & The Philharmonic Winds
Posted On Sunday, August 24, 2008 at at 10:23 AM by warriorsofwindAs if my prayer had been answered, the non-stop rain of yesterday subsided at dawn. What left behind was a cooling temperature and muddy field at Padang where the participants had to toddle across to the bag deposit area and starting point. This year, there was a promising of a new route which would bring us across the Marina Barrage. The organizing of the Half-Marathon went extremely smooth with good water and logistics support along the route. It was the best among the ones that i had been participated. I was delighted the route covered some off- road trail track after exiting from the East Coast Park. Despite most runners' complaints, i welcomed the cushioning effect from the trail ground. In the end, I had finished the race at around 1:52hrs within my expected target.
Today also marked the ending of Beijing Olympics 2008. I was thrilled to watch the final for the women group rhythmic gymnastics. Their performance was stunning and amazing, especially the choreography.
Coincidentally, the performance of Philharmonic Winds clashed with the Olympics Closing Ceremony. The performance was good with great support from the audience but i couldn't bring myself to enjoy it. My mind was totally preoccupied. During the interlude, i was walking outside the Esplanade under the drizzle, and questioning the purpose of my existence. The temperature was cold after the pouring in the afternoon, but my heart felt much colder.
