Maxcoil Coralinus Mattress

I saw some Mattress Sales on the newspaper and decided to check it out with Rosalind after her OCBC cycling event.

The first retailer I intended to visit was Posturecare Mattress gallery. I did a search on their company's website and found out that they won Singapore Excellence Award 2013. At least, this would somehow give me some confidence in their service.

Posturecare was quite clever in their advertising. They have made some mattress available in some outlets but not the others. Thus, we have to visit 2 of their outlets: (1) Bukit Merah for Maxcoil and (2) Macpherson for Slumberland.

Maxcoil is relatively new in the market but received pretty good review in the forums. Their mattress is manufactured in Batam. They have positioned themselves as value-for-money and premium quality mattress comparable to those brand ones, e.g. Simons, Slumberland etc.

Once we stepped into the Maxcoil Gallery Showroom, we made ourselves feel at home trying different beds. Carol, the saleslady was very friendly,

Rosalind and I immediately fell in love with Maxcoil Coralinus model when we lay on the mattress. It was comfortable, slightly soft but did not lose its touch on the firmness. Carol further promoted their storage bed by claiming their hydraulic lift is made in Germany.
Still, I preferred to visit the Macpherson outlet to check out the Slumberland promotion before making a decision. There was no hard selling from Carol. She asked us to look for Patrick (the manager) if we did visit the Macpherson outlet.

The showroom at Macpherson was much bigger than the Bukit Merah branch. The models that we have tested were:
  • Slumberland TempSmart 3.0 (PS1200, 1600 and 3600 series): PS1200 was too hard for us. The 1600 and 3600’s experience is very similar to the Maxcoil Coralinus but we could not afford it.
  • Vono Ergonomics: After experiencing the Maxcoil Coralinus, the Ergonomics series felt slightly firm for us. As such, we decided not to consider this brand anymore.
  • Maxcoil Pedicare III and V recommended by Patrick: Better than Maxoil Coralinus. But the price was much higher.

Patrick was quite helpful. He explained the difference in the technologies used in the mattress. He even suggested that Slumberland and Vono might not suitable for us based on our sleeping posture. He advised us to make a decision fast since Maxcoil might raise up the price by 1 to 2 hundred effective from 1st April 2014. Eventually, we took some photos on the bed frames that we liked.

Next, we went to Enterprise One located at Kaki Bukit for the Slumberland Clearance Sales. The showroom was miserable with ex-models and display sets for clearance.

After consulting with Rosalind, we decided that Maxcoil offered us the best value for money. Both of us were very comfortable with Carol's service and the reviews from the forums.

We went back to the shop and managed to negotiate with her a pretty good deal inclusive of delivery, installation, disassembled of my old bed, 2 pillows and mattress protector. In addition, the warranty covered the storage bed as well. The bedframe that we selected was called Rome (as shown in the right).
